Victoria Wilson

I love it! It's such a good way of getting out how you are feeling. If I can put a situation into a song then it's like a line is drawn and I can move on because the emotions are captured in that song.

Q:First song ever sung?
A:Someone like you – Adele

Q:How long have you been singing/playing guitar?
A:I started singing in 2011 and the more I loved to sing, the more I wanted to start writing my own songs. In early 2012 I bought my first guitar and began to teach myself basic chords so I could begin songwriting.

Q:What did your family do to encourage you?
A:It wasn’t necessarily encouragement, but more so support that I received from my family, particularly from my mum. She has always been there with me at every gig and gives me great feedback so I know how I have done and where I can improve.

Q:Who else in your family sings?
A:No one else, I’m the only one with the singing gene!

Q:Who are your musical inspirations?
A:Ed sheeran for his songwriting Ellie goulding for her amazing tones and vocal techniques.

Q:What kind of music do you listen to today?
A:I listen to pop, country, indie and acoustic genres the most. My favourite artists/bands include Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, Adele, Lawson and I’m really liking The Vamps at the moment too.

Q:What embarrassing songs might we find on your MP3 player?
A:Oh god, I think I still have Jedwards lipstick song from Eurovision somewhere…

A:As long as the audience is engaged and listening to my music then I don’t mind where I play, be that on a stage or in my room.

Q:If you weren’t singing, what would you be doing?
A:I’m at university at the moment studying Geography, so it’s a balancing act of studying and music but I love it, I’ve always got something to do.

Q:Apart from Guitar do you play any other instruments?
A:In year 3 I started learning violin…but I don’t think that really counts!

Q:What Genre of music do you like playing?
A:I don’t necessarily look at the genre of a song, I just decide if I like it enough to want to cover it. I mainly cover pop, folk, country style songs.

Q:If you could dabble in another genre of music, what would it be?
A:At the moment I am more folky/country so I wouldn’t mind adding a twist of pop to that.

A:Screamo!!

Q:What hidden talents do you have?
A:I can cross my eyes in a very unconventional way…you will never have seen anything like it!

Q:Favourite food?
A:Chocolate!!
